I started out looking for base Cayman’s, but this Corvette is much more yellow! And I thought my blue/gold WRX looked conspicuous!
It’s a 2008 base model with 61K miles and (knockoff?) ZR-1 wheels. Unfortunately, it’s too cold and rainy here in CT to use any of the engine’s 430 hp; it was spinning the rear wheels at just 2000 RPM on the drive back from the dealership. Admittedly, the racing stripe adds about 30 hp.
I can’t wait for the summer track season!

Blackouts are sexy, not safe, mk?

The previous owner blacked out their tail lights so they work less. Other than that, it looks awesome.

So, it’s a faux ZHZ?

Don’t remind me! It’s impossible to see anything behind me. I actually think it came like that from the factory. Every Vette I looked at was tinted that way, and it’s not an aftermarket tint wrap.

how does one “accidentally a Corvette”?

bruh y u gotta plug in ur ceiling?

For whatever reason, every Vette I looked at had tinted lights. And the rear window tint is so dark it’s borderline opaque.

Oh yes, you accidentally did the right thing. The C6 is on my list of cars to own.
Once you drive a C6, it changes you. Congrats!

Congrats!!!! Loving these non Fiesta purchases

I will never understand the blacked out lights.

In the words of Mr Regular: “I blacked out my tail lights so they work less!”

Like stance I can deal with but painting trim I will never understand.

I'm with you. Clearly the previous owner was going for the black accent look, but I'm probably going to undo some of his shenanigans.

In general it looks good though.

He’s talking about your tail lights...

Those tail lights came like that from the factory if I'm correct

Welcome to the LSX family. It’s better here.

Every time I start looking at caymans I end up looking at corvettes and vipers. Nice!

The problem with Cayman’s is I’d need to find a facelifted 2009+ to avoid the IMS issues, and they’re selling for $35K+.
This C6 was $27K. And it has enough power to keep up with the 911’s at HPDE. And it’s cheaper to run/maintain.

Yeah I get it! I really want a cayman, but IMS keeps creeping in, as well as maintenance. So after checking out a few I end up looking at corvettes and vipers. Last spring I saw a bunch of good 30k corvettes and 40k good enough vipers.

You mean LS2. Not the 454 ci. LSX engine.

Looks great! I just picked up my second c6z this week. My old one had that all black interior, but the new one is two tone “titanium gray”. I’d rather have the all black like yours.
Any plans to upgrade/fix the terrible base mode stereo?

How expensive can replacing the back window and taillights be? They’re GM so I’m not thinking much
![]() 11/28/2015 at 22:25 |

Nice - I kinda of assumed only the Hertz cars got the yellow with black stripe - but it’s not one of them with that manual. Maybe you could find some of those cool euro-spec replacement taillights with the orange turn signals to replace those blacked out ones. Jealous!

Nice buy! Color me jelly!

The X encompasses all of the LS series mills. Like “LS” it’s just a slang referring to the engines, but a little more specific. “LS” could refer to Hondas as well so I always throw the X on the end. In context like this it’s a given, but in general shop talk it could go either way and fellas might be thinking I’m talking about a Civic.
BTW 2008 was the first year for the 6.2 LS3 in the C6.

Actually I have the optional Bose stereo which is pretty good. Admittedly, my perspective is somewhat skewed; the WRX I traded in had so much wind noise that any audible stereo is an improvement.

Wow, I didn’t know about the Hertz ZHZ special edition C6’s. But you’re right, all the ZHZ’s were automatics. My car has been owned privately its whole life, and was originally leased in New Hampshire.
I wonder if a previous owner swapped out the body panels with a decommissioned ZHZ? Or maybe just had a body shop paint it to match?

Congrats! I may also accidentally a Corvette after looking for Caymans. Lots of good value in the Corvette is swaying me very hard right now.

It’s so worth it! I was always the first to criticize Corvette’s for being too uncivilized and blue-collar, but i can't help but grin ear to ear when I hear that big burbly V8!

HPDE’s aren’t about power levels, but have fun with that...

I’m more concerned about keeping pace with the pack so I’m not constantly looking in my mirrors and giving the pass signal (like I did in the WRX).
I drive with the Porsche Club, not NASA, so the slowest thing out there is a Cayman S.

Nice!
Where in CT are you? I just moved to Stamford and I’m looking for car shows and stuff like that. All I’ve found so far is Caf. and Carbs in New Canaan.
